First AR15 Custom Build
Thought I'd share some pics of my first AR15 build...
I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out... The big plus was the amount of knowledge I gained building it myself.
Here's the parts list...
POF Lower Receiver
RRA Lower Parts Kit
RRA Two-Stage Match Trigger
LMT Mil-Spec Buffer Tube w/ H2 Buffer
CQD Sling Mount
VLTOR MUR-1 Upper Receiver
16.1" Noveske Rifleworks RECON 5.56mm 1:7 Twist Barrel w/ MP Tested Matching Bolt
Youngs Manufacturing National Match Chrome Bolt Carrier
VLTOR Gas Block and Tube
LaRue 11" Railed Handguard
Troy Front & Rear BUIS
ARMS Aimpoint Mount
Smith Enterprise "Vortex" Flash Hider
Tango Down Vertical Grip
Very nice JS...thanks for sharing the pics and details.
How much $$ did all of this set you back?
I just received my Vltor CASV-EL rail fore end yesterday....
Roughly $3,000.00... That's including the actual parts and the tools I needed to put everything together.

Looks great. If I ever need another AR , I will go the build way too.
Thats one tough looking weapon.
Nice work. I agree with you that building is so much better than buying...if for no other reason but your familiarity with the weapon. It's very reassuring to know that you're 100% capable in the assembly, up-keep & possible repair of your own rifle. Looks like you spent the coin to get the GOOD stuff. Well Done!
Excellent build. I just read through your step-by-step thread ... now you've got ME wanting to build one!
Go for it! :yup:

I still haven't had a chance to even shoot it yet.... :blackeye:
Hopefully this weekend...!
OOOOOOOOOOOOO....very nice...I'm sure Mrs. Brady would like a picture too!:yup:
Finally made it to the range. It was raining most of the morning, but that didn't stop us!
My AR shoots like a dream, no issues what so ever... smooth as butter! I sighted it in and it preformed flawlessly. I was shooting at 100 yards and was achieving 1" groups with ease...
Here are a few pics...
I also added an Aimpoint ML3(2 MOA) and Aimpoint 3X to the build, along with 2 LaRue mounts...
I'm a happy camper...! :danceban:
Impressive work. Now put those tools you bought to work and make some for us.
