I’m looking for a home defense short easy to handle shot gun in semi-auto. I know pumps are more reliable buy having the use of only one hand it’d not an option for me. I’d prefer that it hold more than 3-4 rounds as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks:

what barrel length is that?

Is that 11/87 a 14" or 18" barrel? can non-law enforcement types even own a 14"?

You can... but requires a tax stamp like any other class 3 weapon. 11-87's look shorter than they are because the forward stock is longer than a pump. OD's does look a little short though, assuming thats 1x6 decking its laying on.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Found a 20 but not a 12.

I have a Benelli M2 w/18.5 inch bbl, also I have a 26 inch bbl to go with it.....switch it out for bird hunting or whatever. It shoots great, I have a mag extension on it and rifle sights. It's a natural at your shoulder, the sights will pretty much be where you're looking when you bring it up. It fits me good. The extra bbl and gun itself is a little pricey though.

If go Mossberg, recommend the Model 590A1 - pump.

If go Remington, recommend the Police 11-87 - semi-auto or Poilce 870 pump.

I have shot others prefer the Remington, habit of 40 plus years and hard to argue with the success of Remington.

Lube - is Sentry Solutions - Hi-Slip Grease, never a problem cold or hot with coat of Hoppes Oil down the barrel.

Another option is a side by side double barrel with 18" to 20" barrel. Two of the same provides options - like a backup handgun - simply pickup the second accomplish the task at hand - quicker than a reload, if not moving around.

I do recommend the Remington Police or Wingmaster over the Express. See below. Same applies to the 11-87 as the 870 discussion below. Pay more $$$, but see below, life is worth ?

My brother has a Benelli M4 shotgun. I've fired it and it is very nice. With home defense 12 gauge ammo the pattern was exceptional at defense ranges. He also fired some slugs out of it and hit an IDPA target the first time at 100 yards. It is probably out of my price range, but if you can afford it this is a good idea IMO.

Keep looking for the Saiga-12! They are hard to get and fly off the shelves. There are a few left, but the prices are high. Next shipment is due late Jan or Feb. The cheapest I've found is Classic Arms as they're last batch were $379 when everyone else was $450 and up. I'd call and see if they're doing lists for the next go. Price will be higher as there is a scheduled factory increase, maybe 30-40.

Also, check out the Saiga forum. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?act=idx Everything you want to know for converting legally to high-cap mags, folding stocks, pistol grips, etc. You can even get 20-rd drums for this beast!

Straight-in magwell, bolt hold-open, and quick bolt release. These are still indevelopment and not sold yet.
