Help SIXTO's wife pick out a new bird gun
My wife wants to buy me a new shotgun for Christmas, I dont really need one, but who am I to argue?
Currently my go to bird gun is a Beretta 391 12ga. I use it for all upland game, and sporting clays from time to time. I like it just fine.
I want another autoloader, but wont turn down a good over/under.
I've narrowed it down to these guns... another 391 in 20ga, a Benelli montefeltro in 12 or 20ga, or go with good old American classic, a 20ga 1100 or 11-87 in 12ga.
You've noticed by now that I'm not married to 12ga... yeah, its easier to hunt or hit clays with a 12, but lets be honest here; its an overkill for most situations. I want to here your arguments for both gauges too.

Not on your list but I got to handle a Ruger Red Label 20 GA., one sweet feeling gun.

Go for the Remington 1100 Sporting 20. Very nice gun.

I have a Red Label 12ga... my uncle "borrowed" it last pheasant hunt. I havent seen it since. It is a sweet shooter, but I've becomed spoiled with the nice auto's. I will have to consider a 20ga Red Label though... good suggestion.

If you really don't need another shotgun ask for that SIG 220 that you wanted.

I used a stockless Winchester 1300 as a skeet gun once. Once.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

Jeese. 1300's are light with the stock! Oh well, no one claims snake eaters are smart.

Yes, my wife is very nice. She takes care of me and buys me cool toys. I think she does it so she can be sure I'll be outside most of my spare time and not dirtying up the house or getting fat watching TV or hanging out here.

A sweet little shooter is the Rem 1100 "Special Field".
Its a straight stock with no pistol grip and holds 4 rounds instead of 5. It has a shorter barell...24 inches I think, but handles and balances very well. Looks good too.
One of my favorites, although pretty pricey nowadays. is the Browning Sweet 16,another exellent shooter. Exellent bird and rabbit gun, quick handling and not as big framed as the 12 guages.
