I have a chance to buy a slightly used Bushmaster A3 M4 "patrolman" model .223 for what seems to be a good price. I'm new to the AR side of the world and was wondering what your experience is with this model. Thanks for your input!

Well, there's one in my safe right now.
With the exception of one cheap magazine causing feed issues, it's been boringly reliable, accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.
I swear by my Bushmaster and say go for it! Mine has been nothing short of perfection.

I'd say grab it! If you think you're getting a good deal---it being a Bushmaster just makes it better. I'm a fan of the HBAR's myself, but that Patrolman carbine should do you well and less weight. I've gone to using mainly the thermold or orlite 30 round magazines in mine. Very dependable.
Its a good gun, I'd snap it up.

M&P Doc- Just ask.
I say go for it if you're getting a good deal. IMHO invest in some quality Bushmaster 30-rd magazines.

I have it and love it. Very accurate and with the heavy barrel I notice I don't lose accuracy when it starts to heat up.

That's essentially the same set up as the S&W M&P15 I have sitting in layaway. That Impact Guns price is a good deal less than I'm paying though.

Thanks all for your input. Decided to go ahead and buy it! No, I don't have pictures yet. Haven't even had a chance to playwith it yet. Fit and finish seem in good shape. I'll let you know how it all goes.
Do make sure to strip it, clean it and lube it as per the manual before you go shoot it for the first time.
Enjoy the carbine - they are a lot of fun to shoot.
