M1 Garand Question

Does anybody know if there is a folding STOCK available for the Garand? If so, can you provide a link or a company name?

I got shivers reading that post. Please tell me you are not going to defile a Garand by putting a folding stock on it (unless there was an oiginal military issue folding stock).

In fact that is EXACTLY my plan! I'm being told that the folding stock from the Beretta BM59 will work. It'll be the perfect truck gun. Perfect for vacations. Thanks to every tv and movie from COMBAT! to Saving Private Ryan has made the Garand an object uniquely patriotic....almost PC! But the GI stock is too heavy and unwieldy for vehicle carry.

Hey I almost NEVER shoot this durn thing. I got it from DCM years ago and collected tons of ammo and clips (not MAGS, clips! Not an interchangeable term) I have AP and API and tracer ammo....Think of this a BM50 para style stock and an ACOG sight on top....

I think Reece Surplus or Dupage Trading carries folding stocks that will fit the M1. It also can come with a pistol grip.

never saw a MI grand with folding stock. Don't think the miltary ever had this config. Good luck with your conversion, I imagine the recoil may be alot more with a folding stock. Why not go with a lighter carbine for a truck gun?

Well, I've already got the Garand, so IF the conversion is less than the cost of a gun for which I already have lots of ammo, then it's worth it. However, I DO also have a Ruger Mini-14 w/factory folding stock that would work this role. It's just thatI have a lot of ummmm "specialty" ammo in .30-06 that I don't have in .223. But yeah, I have the mini-14 and lots of hi-cap mags and a good non-descript case for it. So, yeah, maybe....but I'm still going to check into the conversion, first.

FYI: www.reesesurplus.com was advrt'ing BM-59 stocks for $199 (they say will fit your M-1). Don't know if they have any still hiding out.... Go for it, Soldier! If I could afford it, I'd have a G3-K conversion on my 91. Who needs facial hair anyway?

Don't ruin the original stock. Buy a cheap one on Ebay for $30 bucks, cut behind where receiver sits. Install an Ace folding stock and a SAW style grip. ?? Might need to fabricate a metal piece to reinforce area where stock attaches. It'd look better on the Tanker model.Saw a BM 59 folding stock for $650, nice. $$$ Always wanted a Garand, but I agree stock needs more of an area to grip. Boyd's does make a beefy stock which is an improvement.Avoid Ramline junk...

Dang I wasn't even in Texas when that baby was born or had a CHL.Who unlocked the basement door
