    Aimpoint Battery Life

    Aimpoint advertises that that batteries will last for 80,000 hours thats over 8 years- Has anyone tested this with the aimpoint or any other sights ?

    I don't believe that particular Aimpoint model has even been out for anywhere near 8yrs yet... so...

    That number is for their M4 model. They have actually gotten 100,000 if you use a Lithium AA.

    So if you are asking if their estimations of battery life are accurate, they are.

    it actualy depends on the power mode. they last almost forever on the lowest setting(there is no "off") but on the highest... well i always carry a few spare. only had my aimpoint battery die once when i had it on the fourth down from highest setting for ramadan. which is better than my peq2 got so i guess i can't complain.

    IIRC the M2 (M68 CCO for the Army) is supposed to last 10k, while the M3 is 50k and the M4 is 80k. I believe they measure the times at halfway intensity.
