This is a discussion on Stoeger Outback within the Defensive Rifles & Shotgun Discussion forums, part of the Related Topics category; I was poking around in a gun shop yesterday and saw a very interesting piece. A 12-ga. over and under shottie with a real short ...
I have the Stoeger Coach Gun (in Nickle)...
I had already known that they were not an expensive gun, but I found a place on the I-Net called "Coyote Cap"...he does makeovers on coachguns.
I bought the Stoeger and spent another $175 on a makeover...now it's a sweet home SD gun.

The Stoeger shotguns are made in Turkey on very modern equipment - using high quality materials by some really talented folks.
They are made there to save on labor costs.
They seem to be a very good value for the money.
I have one of their side-by-side doubles.....(I should say had, my father has taken it for their home defense shottie). This would make an excellent replacement.
Good firearm that you aren't afraid to hurt, like some of the more expensive doubles & OUs....
20 inch barrel, screw in chokes, iron sights & MSRP $369!!!!!
Well, I was going to lay it away, but I had recently paid off my credit card, and they dropped the price a whole $ 11.00, so I yielded to temptation.
Initial impressions: it's a little different from my Stoeger Coach Gun. To begin with, there is only one trigger (no biggie). The bottom barrel fires first, which makes the plan TAP buckshot in the bottom and a tactical slug on top. Again, no biggie, and I knew about that before I went to get it. It has rifle sight on it, too (knew that, too).
It is more solidly built, the wood is of higher quality and the action is more smooth.
The biggest difference is that the safety (tang safety, just like the Coach Gun) re-engages after the first (lower barrel) shot, and must be pushed forward again to fire the second shot.
As differences go, that is not a very big one. It will be a little bit of an adjustment, though.
That, however, is NOT a bad thing. It just means more trigger time at the range!

Hmmm.... I may have to take a look at those. I have heard mixed feelings on stoegers, but I think the bad rap comes from the price. Thats a beauty of shotty for the price though. I was eyeballing their nickel gun.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.
