This upper came today… LMT MK18 (Daniel Defense FDE MK18 RIS II, LMT 10.5")

The Triple Tap is my last one and is being sold. I'll go to a flash hider or a Blackout 51t for my Mini4 that i'm waiting on, then I'm not sure about the light. I think I'll be going to a regular pressure switch between rails. I'll probably go to a KAC or Troy rear sight as well.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

^ I've been meaning to ask you - how do you like that switch?

I really like them. They fit tight, don't move or slip off for any reason and it takes a deliberate effort to activate the light, so there's very little chance of an accidental light discharge. I've been thinking that I might try a little different set up though on this rail. Eventually I'll get my 14.5" done which will have the 12" version of this rail and it works great with the standard switches mounted between rail sections.

I'll be picking up either the DBAL a2 or ATPIAL soon, and really don't want to run with the dual switch some are using. I'd rather run two separate switches, plus I prefer to mout my lasers forward instead of rear like we see a lot lately as well. I'll link a post by Jason Falla (now with Redback One) about two tape switches and how he has them set up on his DD rails. I might go that route eventually but keep the SR07's on my KAC URX rails.

^ Gotcha, thank you for the detail.

I'm on my first AR, and while I want to "start right," I know that it's a learning process that never stops.

Your reply provided just the information I was looking for - and more. Thank you!

Trust8383, very nice! I need to get this set up where I like it so I have some experimenting to do. I might move away from the sr07 on this one, just not sure yet. Hopefully I'll have it where I want it soon and can just leave it be.

Great gun so far, plus it looks good which is always a plus.

Man Jon I am always jealous of the quality stuff you post pictures of. Never anything of even marginal quality. Major jealous.

Thank you sir.. I learned my lesson a while back about buying guns that aren't high quality. They almost always cost more in the long run...

More details on optics and light-mount on the paintjob beauty, please?

The gun is a Bravo Company EAG Carbine with an Aimpoint 3x magnifier on a LaRue swivel quick detach mount behind an Aimpoint T1 Micro red dot, also on a LaRue quick detach mount. The magnifier easily swings and locks from "in use" position to "out of the way of the RDS position":

The light mount is Viking Tactics:

FYI, the Daniel Defense got painted, too.

Well, I bought a LMT CBQ MRP for myself on Father's Day. I haven't even gotten to the range with it yet, so it seems like I should at least shoot and zero it before I throw a picture up

John--you were a prof photographer in your former life--what are you doing now? (besides shooting a lot)

My current setup. The 4x32 is on a quick release mount. I'm going to be picking up a primary arms micro dot on a quick release mount as well for maximum flexibility.
