I have been working on this rifle for the better part of this year, Vulcan lower I completely stripped the lower and added new parts, Magpul grip, Magpul stock, Eotech Sight, 11.5 inch carbon 15 upper, Gemtech M4-02 suppressor with quick detach, my primary target here was a light weight entry rifle, this one wieghs 6.5 pounds fully loaded with the suppressor I still plan to put picatinny rails on the bottom and top of the forearm and add flip up rear and front sight for backup
For some reason the picture of my AR-10T w/Springfield 4X14X56 3rd generation scope and Accu-Shot.com mono pod on the back didn't show up. So here it is.
Back in May I posted about adding a new AR to the gang. Original thread is here.
Here's a photo from May:
And here's a couple of photos from today:
I was pretty happy when I first got this as I only had about $750.00 invested in it. I use a software program called GunTracker to inventory my guns and today, after entering the latest additions, GunTracker informed me that this is now the most expensive gun in my collection. It's an addiction, plain and simple. It's an addiction.:frown: I wonder if I can file for disability?
Well I posted some pics earlier, but I'll post them again. The tax stamp cleared and it arrived at my dealer last week so I got to play with it a little bit. The dealer has to keep it for now until the second tax stamp clears.
9mm, integral supressor, new in the box !! As used by the DEA's "clandestine lab enforcement team". I'm really really really eager to try it out.
My buddy is an SOT and we use the M16 9mm in our F/A classes. He didn't have too much success with the Colt magazines so he had some UZI magazines modified and now the gun works great! Just an FYI. Uzi Mags are super cheap right now. Check out UziTalk.
After many changes in my AR I've finally settled with and M4gery configuration.
Preban PWA with Magpul adjustable stock, Stag flattop "M4" upper and Weaver carry handle.
It is a POF-USA piston upper with their Predator Rail system. It comes with their upper / bolt CROS plating. Suppose to not need lube. Lower is a Rock River with match grade trigger. Magpul stock. EOTec 512. I replaced the sights with Troy's after the picture.
Have heard lots about the durability of the Patriot guns, I cleaned / inspected, and then proceeded to put around a thousand rounds through it with out lube. The bolt and upper receiver hardly looked like it had been shot. No failures. Just pulled the piston and rod out and cleaned. I was very impressed. I did lube it after though. Can't get that out of my blood.
Small Arms Review did a 1000 round Beta Mag dump and it ran great. M16 didn't get past 300 rounds before melting the gas tube.
Have read else where on durability. Can't speak for those, but my own experience has been extremely positive.
Streaker, this is a supressor by your definition. It does not have any internal venting, just a regular barrel and a baffle stack.
By my limited understading - the conventional barrel design relies on subsonic ammo : typicaly 147gr at 1010 - 1030 FPS.
There are other designs with vented barrels designed to bleed off some gas while the bullet is in the barrel. Those designs don't let the bullet get up to speed - so you can use 115 or 124gr ammo and it will still come out at ~1000 FPS.
The difference comes in muzzle energy. 147gr x 1000 FPS = 326ftLb
115gr x 1000 FPS = 255ftLb.
Of course the latter will be subsonic with any ammo, but the former will only be subsonic with dedicated loads. A tradeoff, like everything else.
But can you clue me in on what a "CDI factor" is? I'm thinking 'cool drool initiator' ?
I'm building this as a repro of the DEA CLET model 635SD, and it should be a real hoot when it's together. Using a RLL, and debating milling my own upper so I can engrave it as a '635SD' or similar.
Well here it is kids! I put the lower receiver together this morning:
Specs:
DS Flat Top Upper
DS Picatinny Gas Block
16” 1x9 Crowned Chrome-Moly Match Barrel
YHM 2 Piece Rail Hand Guard
6-Position DS-4 Butt stock
Hogue Rubber Over Molded Pistol Grip
DS Two Stage Trigger
DS MilSpec Lower
Burris Fast Fire Red Dot Reflex Sight
I'll probably get a sling for it soon, I'm thinking I'll probably also need that red dot to come up a about an inch so if anyone knows a place to get some sort of riser block for it or can recommend a good way to mount a sling on the front let me know!
One of my magazines isn't working if you load over 10 rounds in it for some reason it jams the next round in between the bolt like this /, kinda scared me since it was the first magazine. The other two work excellent. The gun cycled perfectly and didn't have one hiccup. One of my trigger pins on the sear section tries to back-out but I'll have that fixed tonight.
I really love the Burris Fast Fire, The red dot was perfectly adjusted for when the clouds came over or when it was super bright out, it automatically adjusts. It also stayed locked on position and I will not need to raise it up any so that's good too. The gun is accurate as heck.
Picture of it with my Kershaw Blackout:
