not finished yet obviously, but my first AR build on my first ARs.

    Consecutive SN Stag lowers
    DPMS lower parts kits.
all black one has a tapco 6-pos. stock
OD green one has has stock and grip from Magpul (CTR stock and MIAD full grip kit)

There are a ot of nice AR's here, maybe I'll get around to posting a pic of mine.

I do have a question though, Why all the forward grips on the semi auto guns?

LH AR's. How much of the rifle is freaky? Standard mags? Guess my point is, how many parts are unique?

    Thanks, a very curious Tom.

Control, mostly, especially for those who participate in run-and-gun type of competitions. Never having used an automatic rifle, I can only base my experience off of semi-automatic ones.

Yep, I like it for control. I don't hold it like a beer can, I keep my pinkie and ring fingers on it with my middle and index wrapped around the forearm, thumb points forward if you can picture that. I think some people just like them because they are a doodad and out of movies, but I like to be able to apply rearward pressure into my shoulder with my off hand without worrying about it slipping.

I figured this was the answer more than anything. I've used them both a lot on full auto and see the value there, but I'm suprised about it being a control issue with a semi. The 223/5.56 just isnt that wild of a round IMO.

Yup, there is a 'tacticool' factor.

Upper, bolt and carrier are different than the standard AR(LH ejection) all the other parts are standard. The dust cover is mounted to flip up instead of down.

I've only used an AR with a vertical grip once, and it wasn't the recoil that was being controlled so much as the movement of the rifle. The way it was taught was that it gave you an advantage in moving the muzzle quickly from target to target. Again, this was in competition shooting, and I won't pretend to understand combat beyond saying it sounds like the concept is transferable to real fighting instead of shooting paper or steel.

That M&P was my first choice, but I ended up going with the Rock River Arms civilian version of the DEA Carbine.

I can take pictures when I get home.
That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Been doing some searching of Stag now. Definitely gotta have one before November. My pay plan has several bonus's that would buy one. Poor sales staff won't know why I have the spurs dug in so hard.
