Well now---we all know that's impossible----1/4" and .30 caliber? Not. LOL!

Depends on the measurement: to the edges, or center-to-center.

Well, I have have ya beat! with my Springfield 1911, at 100 yards, I can do a 1 shot groups that measure less than 1/2 inch, and that is standing, unsupported weak hand only!

I think the standard measurement is take the largest measurement possible, say, from the left edge of the left-most bullethole to the right edge of the right-most bullethole, then subtract the diameter of the bullet to get center-to-center. My personal best 3-shot group was from my 20" bull-barrel AR-15 with a 20x scope on it, and I measure it as .214". That would be a group of .438" at its largest point, minus the .224" diameter of the bullets.

But I sure kept that target!

What is prone unsupported? Don't you put your elbows in the ground for support? I've never heard of anyone measuring any way other than center to center until now. I don't doubt that a quality M1A can shoot those groups. I don't think I could do it, that's for sure. Irregardless, that is some nice gun pron there. Be sure to tell us more about her....

My apologies. I meant to type 1-2" groups. Not 1/2" And prone unsupported just means no sand bags. My error. I got hit by a flu bug pretty bad after getting home from the range and I may not have been the sharpest stick when I posted it.

Well they wouldn't be groups, then.

No worries, really. However, you will be shot at dawn. 1/2 " groupings at one hundred yards.

Oh, and can I have your carbine?

That I can believe and that is still some great shooting.

Now you must be punished for misquoting group size to a bunch of shooters. The usual punishment is banishment from society and forfeiture of all guns, but since you came clean, only the gun in question is to be forfeited.

I'm sorry, HotGuns, there must be some misunderstanding. I believe I was first in line for penance.
