Carlos actually used 2 rifles. 1st was the M70 in 30-06. 2nd was a M700 Rem. in .308(7.62mm). Very intresting fellow.
Hathcock will be fondly remembered for his abilities and service.
Not the same that can be said for Lon Horiuchi!!

I wish someone would write a book on Chuck Mawhinney. No other Marine in Vietnam had more confirmed kills of VC & NVA than Chuck Mawhinney.

There are some books that mention his name, but your right, none writen soley about him. I have seen several documentaires about him, and he is mentioned in the books death from afar.

They called him "White Feather" with 93 Confirmed Kills. I've read his biography (I AM a history teacher!) and it was fascinating. Remember the movie sniper? Also Saving Private Ryan? In both of those films there was a scene where a heroic American sniper kills an enemy sniper by shooting right thru the BG's scope. Well Hathcock actually DID that in 'Nam.
