"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier
and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the

love and thanks of man and woman."
-- Thomas Paine (The American Crisis, No. 1, 19 December 1776)
You'll find the black crinkle on the stock will chip very easily and start almost immediately. I've had to have two of mine "refinished" in different patterns.
The mounting system for the scope will be critical if it's to stay mounted without the loosening as you found on yours. It's a major issue with the M14 boys on their forum, and they rely on only three mounts to perform as advertised with no problems after they are set up.
“They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security” Benjamin Franklin I'm not pro gun, I'm pro rights. What are you?
I'm the lone dissenter here who thinks the synthetic stock kicks all kinds of butt on the original OR the replacement wood stocks. I know...I know...I'm setting myself up for a public depantsing. A purist, I ain't.
I dunno... somehow I have collected three stocks for one M1A... and cannot seem to let go of any of them. One Black, one Walnut and this custom Desert Camo one... It's like owning a Barbie Doll...
