I would rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city on Earth.--Steve McQueen
I've found them dirt-cheap USGI at gun shows. Most are "in the wrapper" from WWII or Korea vintage.
They are getting harder to find. Forget about 30 rounders in Real GI as they are scarce and out of sight money wise. And most of the counterfit ones don't work well at all. The real ones sell for over 50 bucks and you gotta be careful as there are many fakes. So don't buy 30 rounders... just GI 15 rounders is all I would trust unless you know what your doing.

M1 Carbine Magazines
Unfortunately the days of $8 mags for them appear dead. The rash of CMP carbines has outstripped the supply.
I bought one of these:

No reliability or quality problems, so I bought a couple more sets and all were fine.

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.
Last I looked (January) the 15 rd GI surplus mags were $10-12 each at the gun show.
Not sure if they've jacked prices up around here or not and it'll be September before I'll be at another gun show to find out.
cheaper than dirt has them for some good prices:
$12.83 for a 30 rd. mag
