I've always just used the surplus Eastern European ones that come cheap, they run great usually. PRo-mag is supposed to be ok, but I've never used them.

Well, they used to be alot cheaper! I think I got most of mine for $14.99 back when, but I'd still recommend them.
K-VAR Corporation :: Magazines :: M-47W The actual magazine is metal lined I think.
The all metal surplus ones usually work well also.
Get the real Bulgarian waffle-pattern ones, with the circle-10 mark.
Either the Bulgarian Polymer "waffle" mags, or European surplus...don't by American AK mags.
I've got 20 or so surplus metal mags and all of them have worked just fine.

If you carry in Condition 3, you have two empty chambers. One in the weapon...the other between your ears.

Also, $7.95 in large quantity, these are OK:

I got 100 of them, and most were in decent shape.
Just for the record, though some people have mixed opinions on the Chinese steel, (Some say they're the best, some say they're the worst) I think they are the best for my purposes and from my experience of trying a few different types.
Never had any of the stamped types, but the regular kind are good IMO. I have "several" and they work great. They are a little hard to find and sometimes expensive (up to $35), but I only mention this so you can keep an eye out at gun shows for them. I just picked up four that were like new at a show for $12 each.
I was a happy camper that day. :-) Especailly since the Chinese mags are the only ones that seem to function flawlessly in my Norinco SKS D/M.
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.
I went with new ( unissued ) Bulgarian steel.

Those should do you just fine, hopefully you found a good deal on them as well.

Anyone else like the 40 rounders over the 30 rounders? I have some eastern europe 40 round mags that are great. Just a little longer then the 30, no biggie to me. Have to be ready when the zombies start showing up.
