Assault Weapons Ban 2009?
With the 2008 election growing ever closer, I become worried about the right to bear arms that happen to be classified as "assault weapons" by anti gun politicians. An Assault Weapons Ban in the year 2009 would not come as a major surprise should Senator Obama be elected. In preparation for this, I want to pick up a few of the "evil killing machines" before they become illegal. I actually cant buy firearms until November 2008 (Im 17). Come November, I plan to pick up a Bushmaster Carbon 15 Flat Top, Vector Arms AK, and several 30 round magazines for each. What is everyone else doing for the possible new ban?

It is possible that a new AWB will be put in place, but it still has to pass through the Senate, the president's power is limited. It can't hurt to stock up on hi-cap magazines and other so called "evil" accessories for your military style rifles. I'm not gonna go into a panic over this, but do plan on getting a few more 30 rounders for my WASR10, and a couple more 33 round mags for my Glocks.

If something like that does happen I don't think it will happen the next day the new president comes in!

No, but the outcome of the elections could drastically affect the prices.

Don't neccissarily wait for a Dem to get into office.....McCarthy introduced HR1022 AWB bill in congress just last year. Greatly expands on the Clinton ban on types of weapons that would be covered. Don't know where this stands as far as activity, but we don't need a new president or an election year to have something like this pop up in our face.
Get your AR15 lowers while you can, or your AK's, mags etc.

I will pick up a bunch of evil parts so I can build at least 5 AR's from scratch

I would skip the Carbon 15- they're still a bit more problematic than the plain ol' alloy receivers. Equally, since things aren't likely to loosen up again, I'd suggest one or the other(or two of one, and not the other). Having two platforms means you'll have a hard time having long-term parts, supplies and ammo for both. Unless you have $10K or so coming to you when you hit 18, dedicated solely to firearms...
Just a thought from someone who's BTDT.

Okay I still don't see the negative in this.
Normal Market forces change prices all the time. They have always bounced back.

I would not hold my breath too much on this; what will really determine the second AWB and how it may come down will be the Heller case.

Obama has already promised his socialist handlers that if he's elected POTUS he will sign the U.N. accord against private citizens owning ANY firearms. In other words, he'll use a U.N. agreement to bypass our nation's 2nd Amendment to use the U.N. to ban guns in our country. Next step would be for house-to-house searches by foreign troops at the behest of the U.N.
Imagine that you're an enemy soldier and you are surrounded by U.S. Army paratroopers on one side and American marines on the other side... Talk about a hopeless

situation... That has
got to be legal grounds for suicide!

And where did this info come from?
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I'm very skeptical as to your source for this. Congress has been a failing miserably lately at fulfilling its given duties, much less it's taken duties, and even then I don't see Congress or the Supreme Court going for it. The UN can posture all it wants, and a president can do the same, but when all's said and done all it is is posturing. There is no legal weight behind it.
