    Remington 700

I traded for a heavy barrel Remington 700 in .308 yesterday. I didn't get the scope in the deal so I'm shopping for glass now.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, my price range is around 600.00 right now.

Joe, I'm a big fan of the Burris Signature line. A 3-9x40, maybe with the BDC feature should be in your range, and is a top notch attachment. The Posi-Lign mount system makes mounting and zeroing much easier and saves your adjustment.

I bet you could find a Trijicon Accupoint in that price range... since it's a 700 with a heavy barrel I suspect a military style scope is not out of the question...

I picked up a used Springfield Armory Government model a few years ago. I hear they no longer make the model, and I have heard a few bad things, but i guess I got a good one and it's caliber specific and dead on for me. I've always envisioned a quarter mile shot and I believe this scope could do that if I were capable. You could probably still find one in the box somewhere. It all depends on what you'll want to do with the rifle. You might do well searching for Nikon scopes on E-Bay or through a distributor also as they do quality glass. Your limit of $600 sort of rules out the top of the line NightForce or similar optics. In a decent bargain scope, I'd go with BSA over Tasco if that's what you have to do.

Another +1 for the Nikon Monarch line. I also have a Rem700 in .308 heavy barrel. The Nikon is very clear and bright. The only thing I would have done different if I bought another would be the reticle. I got a mil-dot, and I find it little big on small targets beyond 200yds, but is a minor thing.

You can also try a Leupold mark2 . I have one on my AR. My Rem 700 carries the Mark4. The Mark2 are only 450.00 now. Of course they might have gone up.merlin45kout
