    Got a Free Mosin!

I gave a guy at work a bunch of venison because he said he liked it and he gave me a Mosin Nagant and a box of 7.62x54R as a thank you present. I haven't shot it yet, but it appears to be in good condition. Well, the wood sucks, but it's a crappy commie rifle, so that's how it is.

I'll post pics tomorrow. I see what people say about how the bolt is sometimes hard to work. The trigger is garbage too, but it looks like it might be fun to shoot.

That's awesome. I got one for free too - prior to that I had no interest but now I have a full blown addiction to them.

It didn't come with a bayonet though (I have no idea which model it is), so I think I miss like half of them. :(

Model 1938 is the only one that comes to mind.

On a more serious note... damn, just got off work, too tired to come up with a "no-bayonet, no-Mother-Land-love" joke.

    watch out they are addictive

me and the buddies all bought in when big 5 had them on sale for 75 bucks and we were getting 440 rnd battle packs of 7.62x54 r for 80 bucks at j&g in presscott az google them they ship i think. but let me tell you what three young shoulders with m44 carbines gave us the only open lanes on the range on either side of our three. never could get much better than a 4 inch group at 50 but for an 80$ gun with cheap ammo a whole lotta fun afternoons playin with them seeing if this trick or that trick helped at all. A tip if shooting corrosive ammo or even questionable ammo spray down the chamber, bore and bolt with a good dose of windex the ammonia in it nuetralizes the corrosion and clean it good. Also ran into a couple that were not striking primers hard enough to ignite them tore down the bolt to find firing pin spring packed solid with cosmoline. have fun

Ok, I was wrong, there was a bayonet in the box, so it is whatever model that is.

    Pics should be up tonight.

    Sounds Like the Model 98/30

You can smooth the bolt up with a dremel tool on it were it catches the reciever. Work the bolt a few times and you will see what I'm talking about.

Don't spend to much on it, its not worth it, but they are a hoot to shoot.
