So it comes down basically to either an AR or an AK.
Well I only have to decide now which one would be a better option for me,
I wanna keep things simple and not to mess with two different platforms and bullets. It won't be easy....
    I carry a gun cause I can't carry a cop.

Well, you know you could buy the AR-15 of your choice, then get one of these complete 7.62x39 uppers and a magazine or two! I've heard function was a bit iffy when surplus ammo was used. I've seruiously thought about getting one of these before myself....but even the $520 price tag is fairly reasonable for a quick change/dual purpose rifle with the common lower. Check it out.

I would say stock up on ammo and stick with the .45

Yep. That's where the 7.62 x 39 has the edge. Shooting through cover and barriers, .308 and 30-06 are even better.

Depending on how much you are willing to spend also look at FN-FAL's, G-3 clones, Springfield M1A's (basically civilian M-14s).

Way i was thinking... You know and trust your life everyday with the .45, so you get another weapon a rifle which you know will only serve the purpose of SHTF, so unless you want to dedicate as much time training with it as you do the handgun I wouldn't think its a good idea because of the drastic change from a handgun. If SHTF I'd grab my 12 gauge because it'll be a wider range (00 Buck) than my handgun would be. I have enough rounds through and often, with my 9mm and.380 that if I had to hit something and be accurate it wouln't faze me.. but I still put more rounds through the shot guns than my carry guns.
