Hehehehe! And so it starts. I am complete on the M1 Garand, Carbine and M14/M1A and now have my feelers going for the M1 Thompson. Things just worked out to clear me to buy one today. Got paid for a Consulting job I did a month back and the Credit card is paid off! Muhahahahaha...

Now that's sweet! I need to do some accessorizing, too. Bayonets and such.

Those are great looking rifles. I've got a '44 Springfield.

You're exactly right. I've had a Garand on my radar forever, but just never found one in the right place at the right time. I'm really looking forward to shooting it. There's just something mystical about a 30.06 battle rifle.

I love all the added gear that cphillip has come up with. One of these days, I'll create a real display to show all of mine off. It'll go great alongside the Brit section:

    Enfield .303 + Webley .455

Like the Enfield and and especially the Webley. Love Webleys and British militaria in general.

Here's a couple of Webleys. A .455 from the Boar War and a .38/200 from World War II.

The Garand is a piece of American history.

I traced mine back to Springfield 1941. I agree with the poster who wondered about the troups humping that monster around every day.

Real men to say the least.

Great pics of a great gun! Ya did good!

My old 1st Sgt had one from the CMP. What a fun gun to shoot...nothing saltier than hearing the ring of an ejecting clip and jamming another one in...

My wife, while totally indifferent to guns in general, wants me to get one so we can "have the same one they have on "Band of Brothers." Once I get back from my next hitch overseas, I think I'll pick one up myself.

    Enjoy!

If you are looking for some good shooting, good cost ammo, check out the CMP system. Apparently, they have a football stadium full of Greek 30.06 military ammo. The boxes I bought last week were 400 rounds in a .50 cal steel ammo box for $100 plus 16 shipping. That makes it .29 a round. They have different size packages to fit your needs. Luck of the draw, you may get 1980 or you may get 1961 or whatever date, it all shoots pretty good.
