Best AK choice?
Im looking for an Underfolding AK with black furniture
My first choice was a vector arms AKUP but they are out of stock in most places and now I heard vector was actually shutting down?
What else is a good kind of underfolding black furniture stamped AK for a decent price?

Check with Blain at Atlantic and see what he can do for you. Probably going to be a Lancaster or something like that. Best choice though sometimes is most expensive choice. Good choice might just be Lancaster right now with Vector in a flux.

Get a copy of ShotGun News. They are getting harder to find all the time. The best ones will cost you half an arm nowadays compared to what they used to. I still think Arsenal does some very good work...still pricey.

I just picked up a M70AB2 from Century International Arms. I haven't yet gotten to shoot it but it seems to be well put together.

I have a Yugo and love it.
My brother wanted one but when we went to the gun store where I got my Yugo, they said that they are having trouble finding Yugos and don't know when or if they will get more in.
My Bro ended up getting a Bulgarian AK with black furniture. I mean you can't leave a gun store without buying a gun, right?
His AK is lighter than mine and is a really cool one. Both a good firearms.

I've been thinking about picking up an AK as well, but I have to admit to complete ignorance when it comes to this rifle. I'm familiar with the M-16 platform (and own a couple of AR's, as well as carrying an M-4 for work), but know nothing about AK's. I can pick up a Romanian AK-47 "Underfolder" locally for $519. Is a Romanian AK a decent rifle and is that a reasonable price?

Can't Go Wrong w/Yugo
Hello All,
All AKM's are great...For the money my
M70B1's and M70AB2's always go BANG everytime and give me:
Minute of Shotgun Shell @ 25m
Minute of Beer Can @ 50m
Minute of Pie Plate @ 100m
Minute of Bad Guy @ 200m
YMMV ....Good enough for these ole' eyes anyhow.
I LOVE my Yugos and wouldn't trade any of 'em.

I've had my Romanian AK for 2-3 years now. Shot maybe 2000 rounds through it and have only cleaned it a couple times. Never had a malfunction shooting whatever ammo I can find for it. I really abuse this gun and have had no problems. Why spend AR money on an AK? Use an AK the way it was designed, to be rode hard without lubricant.

The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

I have an Bulgarian AK74 sidefolder, triangle stock, side scope mount. 5.45x39 round. Less recoil than 5.56 AR's.
Ammo is cheap right now and have stocked up. Best buy in the ammo market. $119 at aimsurplus.
Talk's cheap and I ain't buying any.

It wasn't that long ago that you could pick up a WASR-10 with a full stock for $350. Understand it is considered the "entry level" of AKs, and there are a lot of poor examples of them out there. There are also some gems, and built-up gems; but for the most part that price for a WASR-10 with an underfold is not that spectacular. Hunt around, at the local gun shows I have seen CA Yugo M70AB2s underfolds for about that much, and that is a much better AK!
By the way, I also have an M70AB2 as well as a Norinco Type 56. Both are beautiful guns and after a career of shooting and carrying ARs, I am now an AK nut. If it weren't for the fact that I am also a M1911 nut, I would own more of them!
Cheers! M2
