Depends on how drugged up and crazy he is.

I prefere the 12 gage and my wife does not mind the recoil.

However I would rather my wife have and practice with a .410 than have a 12 gage she hates to shoot and refuses to practice with.

    .410

She will shoot it and is willing to practice with it, thus it's much more effective than the 12 gauge. As for ballistics, pellet for pellet the .410 buckshot is more powerful than the 12ga magnum buckshot. it's true.

    1 pellet of 12ga magnum buckshot (70gr at 1225FPS) = 233FPE
    Shotshell
(Winchester does not load a 2 3/4 inch OOO buck)

    1 pellet of 2 3/4" .410 buckshot (70gr at 1300FPS) = 262FPE
    Shotshell
    (The load I use)

Less total pellets obviously, but plenty of energy in a shootable platform. I see no reason to insist on loading up a shotgun she will be afraid of shooting, never practice with, and never be able to manipulate or hit with under stress.

I have to figure the excess wear and tear caused by a full tube is the same as carrying a single action CNL, that is to say, non-existant
The muzzle end of a .45 pretty much says, "Go Away" in every language.

Fast is fine, accuracy is final. Learn to be slow in a hurry.
