Yep, I've got the same rifle, S&W M&P 15. I haven't shot it much but it sure is a hoot when I do. At some point I want to swap the front hand guard for a quad rail free float model, maybe add a vertical grip (Tango Down, etc). I also want the Magpul ergo grip and a Vortex flash hider ... it gets expensive pretty quick, huh?

It does indeed get expensive. I just added a quad rail system today to my M&P15. I was planning on keeping it stock except for maybe a sling and Eotech sight system, but maybe a light wouldn't hurt either in case I need to take on the creatures that go bump in the night LOL!

I've been wondering that myself. I just got to shoot my LMT today. A rifle I can call my own.

Ya got a point BAC, but I don't use conventional wisdom, I use Marine corps logic.

Agreed. It was a Marine who first showed me that, by the way.

My Colt CAR 15 is my favorite rifle out of the several that I own. I bought it during the Clinton assault weapon ban and paid a premium for it but I have never regretted purchasing it. I just installed a front vertical grip and a single point sling on it and it's like a totally different weapon! You can modify this weapon on a budget if you shop around.

I know there are many accessories and parts for the AR platform, and that really is what had me wanting one, plus I know the accuracy these things can achieve. I just installed a UTG quad rail system on mine, and looks a lot more "evil." I know UTG isn't the best for real guns since it is technically an airsoft company, but their quad rail system for the M4 is rock solid IMO.

In my 20's when I shot my brother's Colt, I remember calling it a "Red Rider" because of the "thwang" noise, and low recoil. When the clinton AWB loomed, my EBR must have was a Thompson with a 100 round drum. Now in my 40's, and fearing another AWB, I stumble on the DC Official AR15 Thread, and learn about Stag's left handed AR's. So I got me a Stag 1L. All I can say is"why did I wait so long?"

I also waited too long to get my AR. Mine came to be about a month ago. I learned something about myself on my first range trip however. My eyes are not what they use to be. Back in the day on the rifle range, I was pretty good...now I can't see the target. I found a good deal on a scope at a local gun show and it has made all the difference in the world. Loads of fun but pockets empty quickly!

Buy now...only about 13 weeks left for purchases of those evil black rifles.
So wait, is there another assault rifle ban coming up or something?

If Obama is the answer it was a dumb question.

Ummmm where have you been? You don't think if Sen Obama gets in there will NOT be a new ban? Sen Biden likes to brag how he co-authored the Clinton era ban. Buy 'em up NOW...within the next 18mos they will be illegal again (assuming Sen Obama is elected). There is a show here just prior to the election - I plan on buying a lower at the very least.

I believe the number for the House Resolution is HR-1022, don't recall the Senate bill number.
