I'm working a double and it's super slow, so.....
I ran some rough numbers for the .410 vs the 12ga. I had to make some assumptions about the weight of the powder and wad, the rest is from the Winchester ammo site and the Mossberg site.
For the pistol grip .410 with buckshot, the recoil energy is about 10ft/lb at 1.8lb/sec.
For the pistol grip 12ga with a low brass 1oz birdshot load the recoil energy is about 31ft/lb at 3.3lb/sec.
For comparison, a heavy .30-06 180gr JSP is about 19ft/lb and 3lb/sec. Again with some assumptions made for a full stock rifle of average weight, and a guess at powder charge, scope weight, etc.
Fire a shot from your 10-22 .22rifle and you get about .3ft/lb and .3lb/sec.
The event I'm standing by for: Biketoberfest Daytona Beach Florida

I am so bored.
