20 guage shotgun under $200 ????
My father wants a 20 ga. pump shotgun for Christmas he will be using it for shooting the crows, vultures and other birds that keep ruining all the flowers and plants around his house and he said to spend no more then $200 give or take on it nothing too fancy. I was wondering on what to get him and where? Any suggestions on make and model and where to buy would really be appreciated. This would be his first shotgun, and does not have all that much experience with guns in general.

Well I would check your local gunshops and most likely you will find a good deal on a used gun. You will see influx of used shotguns and hunting rifles near christmas to free up money to make children happy with presents. I good used gun is always better than a cheap new one.

Did you check "gunbroker.com" ?

First thought would be a Mossberg 500, but you may be able to find a Remington 870 Express for that price.

I picked up a used 12 gauge 870 Express Magnum pump at one of the local pawn shops for $175 out the door. It's in good shape and shoots reliably. I would recommend at least checking out the pawn shops in your area for a decent used gun.

Used shotguns are some of the best deals out there. I purchsed a pre 1967 (no serial numbers on long guns back then) Mossburg 500 from a gun shop a few years back for a $100....replaced the crappy wood stocks with hogue rubber stock and forend....threw a cheapo elastic shell holder around the stock and presto....poor man's tactical shotgun. Love it, goes bang every time, and has a story.

I think one of my local Wal Marts actually has a Mossberg 500 and a Maverick 88 model for under two bills. The 20 gauges seem to be cheaper than the 12's. Guessing demand. $188 seems to be stuck in my mind last time I saw these, but I think Wal-E-World ran a special about two months ago on the Maverick for $147 and change. Don't forget taxes.....I always seem to forget to figure in taxes. Check your local classifieds and pawn shops as well. You may come away with a real good deal. Used or new, or used/like new.

Get to your local gun shop, and you will find a decent shot gun for your money...
In fact, you may have several to choose from...if you shop before Nov 4th...
