    Gun Show Advice.

This will be my first official Gun Show that I will be attending, (in Tulsa)

I'm wanting to pick up a Remington 870, does anyone have any advice of how much these shooty's go for at a Gun Show?

What are some of the spec's that I should be looking for?

Or should I just purchase it at Sports Academy?

I have done my research and I lean more towards the Remington then the Mossberg.

Well, it depends on what model you're looking for. They have quite a few in the 870. I'm going to get mine off layaway soon, it's the 7+1 Express. Plain jane and I'll be swapping out the humongous fore end on it at least. I figure the 'in demand' 870's you might get right around $300 at a show if they have some, maybe even a bit less. The special/tactical models will probably run a hundred more or so....I can make my own the way I want for less than a hundred for sure. Be sure to check for good deals on ammo for it while you're there. I've been paying about $4 for a box of five 2 3/4" 1oz slugs, and the Remington 25rd value packs from WM at a bit over $15. Also got some #2 for practice. Academy Sports here is higher than my local gun shop by about $40 on theirs and this will more than make up for taxes elsewhere IMO, but they do have some good deals on ammo-----just about like WM and less if you buy by the case. Happy huntin' at the gun show!

Your going to the Tulsa show, wear good shoes, drink lots of water, and take breaks. Its one of the largest in the country, so your in for a lot of walking. If you see something you like at a decent price, even if its not a shotgun, and you want it, don't wait it won't be there later!!!

Do some homework before you go. In the last few shows, prices seemed higher for used then many local stores had for new. Call around and get prices from local dealers and big box stores. Make sure to compare apples to apples, an 870 express and an 870 Wingmaster are on the opposite spectrum of price and quality. Shows are great places to pick up accessories like extension magazine tubes, mounted lights/ laser sights etc.

I'm leaning towards the 870 Express, this will be for the HD.

Are you looking for a 18" w/ stock or pistol grip? In 12 or 20? Might also look at NFA weapons for HD. Lots of SBS in the $4-500 (+$200 tax stamp).
