I was thinking about purchasing this. What do you all think? Overpriced? Decent? If I could save $150 or more by buying parts separately and putting it together I'd rather go that route instead.

That IS very nice. Very expensive in my book also. ($820) That might buy you a complete rifle somewhere else, but I'm sure it's worth the money to certain folks. I don't think you can buy anything from YHM for under a hundred dollars....a scope mount, a sling swivel, or a decal. When they say "top end", they aint kiddin'. If you plan on buying the separate parts from YHM, I don't think you'd be saving anything by doing so IMO.

YHM makes nice stuff for sure...but it's pricey and, in this case, heavy. That upper weighs 4.6 lbs by itself! That's gonna make for a heavy AR15. I personally prefer a lighter and simpler gun with a shorter barrel.

Take a look at AR.15.com and follow some links to other suppliers, like Model 1.
