Just wanted to update this thread. I contacted Del-ton, where I got my rifle kit, and pointed them to this thread with your replies and the pictures. They sent me out a new bolt catch for free and I installed it.

Here are a couple pictures showing the difference between the two. One can clearly see the radiused edge of the old one versus the sharp edge of the new one.

I installed it and it works great. The new one also fixed another problem I had which was that certain magazines didn't engage the bolt catch after the last round. I think this had to do with the deformed portion shown in the second picture.

Thanks to everybody for helping me out and thanks to Del-Ton.

Glad you got it fixed. Thats an interesting problem from a kit that presumably should've been new parts.

That's some rough finish on those machined parts, perhaps I'll avoid Del-Ton for my lower or complete rifle parts kit, although I did order my stripped lower from them.
    Yoda, I am, yes.
