Just bought a lower, where to?

so i just picked up a lower yesterday, ill be finalizing the deal today and hopefully shipped out. i plan to piece the AR-15 together over time because i can only afford a little bit each month. but seeing the election results and the fear of an impending AWB, now that i have the lower, should i grab some Hi-Cap mags next? i saw a few places with deals like 10 20Rd mags for $100 or something to that effect. should i grab one of those sets, or worry about finishing off the rifle first ?

    thanks for any advice

Magazines with capacities higher than 10rds are likely to get named in any ban, if past history (AWB) is any guide. So, yes, consider acquiring all of your larger magazines before then.

    Suggestion:
Call Brownell's soon and request their AR-15 catalog. Get one before they run out. And...it's Free!
Lots of specs and helpful info in there for making component decisions.

Be sure to check around, first, for at least anecdotal experiences regarding a particular make/model of magazine. Not all are built the same. Some are jam-o-matic nightmares. IMO, with magazines you get what you pay for. Doesn't mean you need to pay a lot, but it does mean that not all magazines are built equally well.

Re the ones from Stag, I had heard many good things about them. They're all-metal. The spring and follower move nicely within the body. They didn't jam, all six of them (20rd variety). A couple of the 30rd examples had very occasional feeding issues, which I attributed to the bodies needing a good cleaning. The followers were getting stuck inside at the curve, on rare occasions. Nicely, though, a simple rack of the bolt would free things up.

You won't go wrong with P-Mags, BCM or Colts. The others tend to be questionable.

+1 on pmags, I just bought 10 30 rounders for $150 shipped from Bravo Company. Some guys are getting a little better deal (about $140 shipped for 10), but that's for a backorder - BC had them in stock.

when i looked at bravo company, they were sold out, so i went with delton (also temp. sold out) because i had to get stuff from there anyway and it was the same price per piece.
