Frustrated with Panic Buying
Okay, okay... so I know I should get one before they're banned. We ALL know this.
The issue I have is that the local stores here near Seattle, in my opinion, are just price-gouging their customers to death. Two months ago, I could have purchased one for $699, and now they're $1299?
Yeah, I know... supply and demand. But it's frustrating because I still want one, but now I cannot afford one! So I assume these prices are here to stay, if not only go higher, so I'm not too optimistic I'll get one now. Hard to tell the wife and kids "no Christmas," because daddy wants a play toy.
I don't know, I guess I was just asleep during the past few months. I didn't expect panic buying to set in this fast. I just can't see this as one of Obama's primary things to get done, and even then so, at the slow pace of passing the legislation, it's not like it's happening tomorrow or something.

It will slow down as fast as it climbed once everyone starts having to pay there credit card bills. Just wait.

If you ever think of buying something there again, kick yourself! Get people to boycott the stores, spread the word, drive them out of business. If they're this way now, it says a lot about how they have done business in the past and what they will do in the future - and not just to you. I'm sick of what's going on and I'm not buying from people like that EVER!

They'll be dirt cheap once they get banned and people are trying to get rid of them before they go to jail. Drug dealers and gang bangers will be selling them for a dime a dozen because they don't want to be criminals. They might be a little worn/rusted but with 12 or more you can swap parts to get a couple good ones for really cheap!

dont even get me started on Seattle's price gouging
went into a shop the other day and the cheapest AR they had was $1100 for a Del Ton/DPMS Rifle
that being said, there was only 3 or 4 AR15s left in the whole store

It doesn't help that a lot of people are purchasing large quantities for "future profit."

Where do you get your information where you assume that an assault weapons ban, will make it illegal for people to keep any rifles they had before the ban.If It's like the clinton era the prices literally tripled over night and stayed that way for preban guns until 2004

I think America has spoken.
They do not want another "Assault Weapons" Ban.

Why is it that most of the people that are fed up with panic buying are out PANIC BUYING?
and didn't buy ahead of time while it was obvious where it was going?
I would rather be paying off a credit card then trying to buy right now.

It's capitalism, and that's how it works.
You could have bought it at $700, now it's $1200...WAIT...it may be back to $700-800, or you might just regret that you didn't buy it at $1200, when it goes up to $2500.
Is it worth the $1200? I don't know...what makes it worth $700?
It's worth what ever people will pay for it.

I'll put you in touch with a teacher down here that will explain Economics 101 to you... Supply and Demand.
Even if it doesn't imply in this case, to him, it will. That's the only reason prices go up and down.
