Know what I'd like to have? A lever action in 9mm

I guess that needs some qualification. I shoot a lot of 9mm and mostly carry 9mm, although right now I've got this 'love affair' going with my Sig 220 Carry (.45ACP).

Also, I have several ARs, a tactical 870, and an AK. While there's nothing at all wrong with any of these, it'd kinda be nice to be able to have a 9mm handgun and a 9mm long gun. I realize the pros and cons of pistol caliber carbines and that's not an issue at all for me.

Presently, it seems you can get PCCs that take Glock and Beretta mags and that's about it. That's where the lever action comes in. The tubular magazine would hold a bunch of 9mm and no PCC mags would be required. The magazine would not be detachable and that would be more PC, which we all worry about - right?

Anyway, it'd be an interesting rifle, a bit under powered as rifles go but probably pretty neat platform.

I've actually contacted two prominent gunsmiths about a custom lever, but either they weren't interested or felt it couldn't be done.

Well, as they say, nothing is impossible! Keep looking, and keep us posted if you find someone to custom build that rifle. I have seen and shot a couple of different makes of auto loading rifles in 9mm., and they are fun to shoot!

True, but .357 mag ammo is more expensive to shoot and adds another caliber to the mix.

But, I keep thinking it may be feasible to modify a .357 mag lever action to handle the 9mm load. Of course the chamber would have to be modified and I suspect the action would have to be modified to deal with the much shorter 9mm round.

But, hmmm, it may be possible to start with an 18" or so length .357 mag barrel and cut the chamber off and rechamber for a 9mm and shorten the bbl. to 16+" as well. Then the action could be....

I think I'm gonna have to look into this. It may be time to fire up AutoCAD, followed by my milling machine and lathe.

If enough people contacted a manufacturer (like Marlin) they might produce it.

Before I cut any metal, I would be looking to see if anyone has made a lever for a rimless round.

Yep, the rimless case could be a problem; how much of a problem may depend on the bolt/bolt face.

I can get a faster rate of fire from a pump than a lever action. It has the same benefits as a lever action with a higher rate of fire.

And, Remington makes a pump-action in .223, which is awfully close to the 9mm base diameter...

Yeah, money can be a limiting factor.
Here's a crummy pic of my Henry in .357. $700.
