    My first evil black rifle

Well I was in the firearm store looking around, and there was a good priced used AR-15 made by century arms. Knowing it has mixed reviews and may need a new bolt assembly I went ahead and made the purchase. I have a limited budget so I couldn't afford one of the big names, but I should have some fun on the range at least.

Nice. Welcome to the club. If you're not careful you'll catch EBRD and spend all your money on self-medication. Just a heads up.

    Welcom to the AR club.

I would recommend mags by Magpul .. specifically PMAG's. They are the best there is IMO.

Congrats MadDog . I just bought a Century Arms AR too and let me tell you it was a lot of fun at the range. I put 100 rounds through it without a hiccup. I did some research on it and it's made mostly of surplus Colt parts.
I already did some changes to mine. Here it is now.

I backordered six through brownells on the 16th (or maybe 17th not sure) and they got to me last week. Don't know what kind of wait there might be now, might call and ask.

Distributors should be getting a big batch in Dec., and Magpul is stepping into greater manufacturing capacity in the very near future (if memory serves, they've already doubled their production capabilities just in the last year, and will be making another huge leap within the next several months). They've also made it clear that they have not raised any of their prices, and that any prices you see are purely on the part of the seller.

Enjoy yer rifle, MadDog. I'm going nuts with two lower halves and an upper on 22-23 weeks and counting...

Nice. Go to Ace Ltd or Stoney Creek to get accessories. Got to have those weaver/picatinny rails to mount all that stuff that is required to make you go broke.
Got an AR myself last week. Now I NEED a rail, a verticle foregrip (with a laser and flashlight), another rail, gaaaaah

And, hey, is that a bayonet mount?!!

Well i did it..... I ordered rails, vertical grip, light rail, scope, and a sling..... looks like I won't be able to eat for a couple weeks. next time when the budget allows I am going to change to a telescoping stock and a bipod.

Very nice first (black) rifle! So, why is it you're thinking it may need a new bolt/carrier?

How does that red dot sight work out? I have never used one.. What kind of range (distance) can you get an accurate shot with it? A smaller dot than iron sights, but no magnification I think?
