    Question on AR15

I have a stripped lower receiver on order and am looking at the other things I will need. I am going the cheap route and even plan to sell some extra stuff around the house to pay for this black rifle.

There is a complete standard 20" rifle A3 that has a fixed front sight from AKPARTSKITS.com , my question is: is that front site fixed to the barrel or are they all removable?
    Yoda, I am, yes.

Yes the front sight is removable. It's also the front gas block.

To get the front sight off you'll need to remove the flash hider, drive out the gas tube roll pin, drive out the front sight taper pins, and then remove the sight/gas block unit off the front of the barrel.

If you need to take off the front sight, make sure that you remove the pin from the proper side. Since its a tapered pin, it will only go out one way. If you do it the wrong way and beat on it, you'll only wedge it in there tighter.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there were barrels out there that were fixed to the front sight.

You can buy a barrel stripped , with a pinned front sight/gas block ,
or with a bolt on gas block.

Some gas blocks will accept a Separate front sight attachment.

It is not necessarily also acting as the gas block.

I have a 16" barrel with a rifle-length handguard. There is a low-profile gas block under the handguard and a fixed front sight ahead of the handguard. The Bushmaster Dissipator is an example of this.

Either way you have to remove the flash hider and drive the pins out to get the sight off. If you have a 16" or longer barrel, it is threaded on, remove it with a wrench. If you have a shorter barrel with a permanent flash hider, you have another problem; take it to a gunsmith, or live with it.
