Springfield M1A Scouts - questionable quality?

I've got the chance to pick one of these up and am extremely tempted. But I've been hearing some people say that SA's quality control has been on the decline, and a few m1a models have been spotted that were less than stellar. Pure speculation on that part.

Always been under the impression that these were some solid rifles - but there are some doubts now, even if they are unfounded.

Opinions? scoop it up or look for something else?

Haven't had any issues with mine. Recent production too. Springfield does have excellent customer service if you need it.

Bought my Springfield Armory M1A back in the 90's. Love it. Will never sell it. They have an EXCELLENT warrnty policy. I had to call them once because my rear peep kept shifting. They walked me through the tensioning on the phone and were very helpful. Even offered to ship it back and tension it for me if I didn't want to mess with it. Good folks, they are.

I have an M1A that I got back in '97 and I also love it. If I had the $$ I would pick up a Scout in a heartbeat!

These look like great rifles. But why are they so expensive? At least compared to a .308 semi hunting rifle?

    Not exactly an M1A, but...

A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

They are so expensive because Springfield puts excellent effort and expertise into making what we who like their product are willing to spend to get.
If you build it, they will come. And, we do!
Mine is M1A Scout Squad, 22 twenty round magazines, 5 ten rounders, 5 five rounders. Magoghany stock, adjustable cheek rest, Harris swivel bipod, Aimpoint 7000SC 2X scope mounted on the forward rail. 3000 Rds ammo tucked away for a rainy day.
