    Remington 870--Need your thoughts?

I'm looking at a used 870 Remington Express, synthetic stock with the two shot extension. It is virtually brand new. The box says it was shipped in February 2008. It looks perfect and could not have been fired much at all. The shop wanted $325 for it and I have him down to $275. I think it's a good deal for almost new. Your thoughts?

Also, what do you all think about a pistol grip or folding stock?

    Thanks,
    Major

I think $275 is a fair price of the gun's in good shape. I generally prefer a pistol grip as it's easier for one hand manipulation if I ever need my left for anything, that and I just tend to shoot better with a pistol grip and full stock. As for the folder, I guess it really depends on what kind on folder we're talking about. I see no real need for a folder for a home defense gun and only a slight need if it's a trunk/duty gun.

Sounds about right. I got my used as new 870 express 7 shot for $294 tax included in November from a local shop.

Seems like a fair price. Be sure to share pics if/when you pick it up.

Seems like a good price to me. I personally dislike pistol grips and folding stocks on shotguns. Just my opinion but with shotguns, I think one should adhere to KISS.

good price, i would not pass it up. i used a remington factory folding for many mango seasons on the job. last year i took it off and went with one of the ar type stock kit. i like it musch better. the factory folding stock would beat me to death on the range. the factory stock was okay for the job, but the ar type stock kit does not change things much. also it is easer on me.

I also had afactory folding stock and hated it. It really hurt to shoot that thing. I found a Remington polymer stock set at the Wal-Mart and like it much better!!

her it is after busting a couple of crows. The 870 is the lower one!

    Here is a closer look . . .

Me too. Can always add a Knoxx Recoil Reducing stock. Since I put one on my mossy I can not imagine any HD shotgun without one. Pistil grip adjustable and my follow up shots have never been as quick and accurate.

$275? I would pounce on that deal in a heartbeat. If I had found that, I would not have spent $395 (with Remington $30 rebate) on my new one.
