    Recomended AK Upgrades?

    So I have a WASR 10/16, 8 30rd Magazines, 1 40rd Magazine, a sling, and 300rds of ammo.

What are some upgrades you guys can recommend to keep going?

IMHO AK's are great fighting rifles and should be kept caveman simple. The only upgrade I would do would be an Ultimak rail for the front and add a red dot sight such as the Aimpoint T1. Oh, and buy more ammo - 1000 rounds from Ammoman!

They are the epitome of eastern bloc firearms perfection. Load up on ammo and mags and call it a day.

If you only have 300 rounds that is not enough. Buy ammo and when you complete that buy more ammo. Repeat often!

I like to keep 3000 rounds of 76239 ammo in inventory at all times. The Wolf and Golden Bear are affordable choices as are the Bulgarian and similar eastern bloc sardine can surplus. $500 for rifle and $500 in ammo should be a comfortable ratio.

That's odd. I usually get mine within a week of order (a case every payday since the election).

As for accessories - like others have said keep it simple. If you want an optic, go for the Ultimak rail and an Aimpoint with low profile rings or a Burris FastFire (what I have on my primary AK). Maybe upgrade the sights with XS Big Dot/Express or a tritium front post and a wide notch rear. And like others have said - buy ammo.

The 2 main things you should IMHO do are recoil reduction/Muzzle flip and aiming.
For recoil reduction, I would go for the JTAC 47 muzzle brake. At $60 is pricey but it is the best out there. If you want to add the recoil buffer you are pretty much set.

As for aiming, it depends on how much you want to spend and how's your rifle configured. The new thing is LaRue Tactical AK-IronDot. I have not had the chance to use it, but a friend swears by it and LaRue is a great manufacturer. Sucker is $285 but probably will outlive all of us. If your budget is not that great and your AK is set to use rails, then get them and choose whatever red dot optic you can afford. Rails run about $35. Stay away from the cheap chinese red dot stuff and I would go as minimum with TruGlo.

Do get magazines and ammo... I have 25 30-round mags and feel like I need more.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

At the LaRue booth at SHOT, I fondled a Hungarian AMD-65 with an AK IronDot....very nice! They had stuff to sell and I wanted one, but they didn't have any to sell...grrrrr.

I really want one of these.
