    Remington 700?

There is a thread running about the Remington 700 with detachable magazine... is there only one model with a detachable mag? How do the rest load?

    Another ?
Is the only difference between the 700 and the 770 that the 770 comes with a scope?

The rest load through the top and can unload by cycling the action or a hinged floorplate.

The 770 and 700 have similar, but different actions. The 700 is better IMO.

I believe the detachable mag models are only available to Law Enforcement and Military.

Everyone else will have to settle for aftermarket trigger guards, of which there are plenty. None of them are cheap.

I don't know why they wouldn't offer these in .308 to the public, unless the .308 is going out of style? My .308 tactical choice isn't a Remington 700 by the way, it's a Savage. But I do have a model 700BDL Varmint in .22-250.

They made some of the LE models with the detach mag. They were for use when they needed to switch ammo depending on situations. The main problem was mixing them up or losing them.

I've got an older model 110FP (long action .308) in a Bell&Carlson fiberglass stock, custom bedded and trigger work done by Aurora Tactical. Bought it slightly used in original configuration at a gun show in 1998 or so ($425). I have used the Remington 700 model in service as designated M40A1 in 1983. Best reason I ever got into reloading was my Savage .308. From 110gr HP's to 175gr HPBT's, it knows no sin. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I think I'm very demanding in it's performance, and it's never let me down with my expectations. It's as close to a precision instrument as my 700 varmint model in 22-250, and with my past and present firearms budget, it's likely the best I'll ever see, and the one I've put the most time and money into making it what it is to me.
