My friend has one for a .45 1911. That round is really too slow to gain much benefit. I've got a Glock 31 in .357 Sig that I think would make a smoking carbine. It's already 1300 fps out of a 4" barrel with 147gr Gold Dots.
They have been around for a long time now. They havent really proven themselves all that worthy for defense roles, but one might be fun to have just because.
They're pretty cool. I'm from Kalispell, Montana where these conversion systems are made. I've visited the 'manufacturing' site of these and I'm pretty good friends with the inventors/makers son! They are fun to shoot, it just seems you could buy a whole different firearm for the price! Rumor has it, they're looking to make one for the XD-series of pistols. I don't know how far they've gotten on that track though!
I own one. My Mech-Tech. I use it for tactical matches. Works fairly well.
