    Help With AR Build

Well I figured I should start on an EBR before the current regime outlaws them. With that in mind I just purchased a Rock River stripped lower from Buds for $189. I could use some help in how to build this, what things to avoid, etc.

I was planning on buying all parts from Rock River, but if there is a better way to go please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Mike

As an update I just received an e-mail from Bud's stating my order had been cancelled because the item can't be shipped to CT.

    Anyone know why?

Man that sucks. It's going to suck even more when it applies to everyone again.

    Well,

Hoffmans in Newington CT has RRA stripped lowers in stock for sale for $169, cheaper than Bud's and no FFL transfer fee.

I will be headed to Hoffman's on Friday.

I am still looking for recommendations on how to build this, and appreciate any and all input.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Are you going to buy tools and build it all yourself, or just assemble the lower and buy a complete upper?

I plan to build it all myself, with the help of a friend who has built several, and has all the tools necessary. But if I find a good deal on a complete upper it may be hard to pass up.

Just got back from Hoffman's where I picked up a RRA stripped lower. Haven't really decided how I will build it yet, but it will be full-size, no varmint/plinker rifle here. This will be an EBR just to irritate the Brady Bunch. Unfortunately I have to use all post-ban parts.

Since you've got an RRA lower, I will suggest an RRA upper.

There's a thread over at ARFCOM about tolerance stacking issues with RRA.
AR15.COM :: Forums :: Why won't my new upper receiver lock/close on my new RRA lower receiver?????????

I have an RRA A2 middy and it was real PITB for about the first two dozen times I mated it to my DPMS lower. Now I actually appreciate the tight fit... no wiggle... no need for an accu-wedge or other bandaid.

    Also,

Can I use this receiver and build an AR pistol, or do I need to get a receiver marked "Pistol Only"?

The receiver must be sent to the FFL as a pistol on the forms to be a pistol build. (no markings on the receiver needed )

Thanks for the heads up Rocky.

As an update I am having trouble finding a RRA lower parts kit or any LPK for that matter. No one seems to have them in stock, including RRA. If anyone has a RRA LPK, either standard or NM trigger, please let me know.
