DPMS makes it for Remington; but both companies are owned by Cerberus. I will again advocate the DPMS .308 is a fine shooter.

I have the DPMS AP4 in .308, and it's a pleasure to shoot. Certainly good for deer and does wonders on feral hogs, too!
Shown here with a Nikon 4x12 scope and a Harris bipod.

    Cheers,

I got an Eagle Arms(Armalite) AR10 but after about 20 or 30 rounds I had enough, recoil isn't too bad but after that many rounds my shot pattern opens up

That is EXACTLY what happens to me with my Savage .308. It's a great rifle but I want to be able to shoot frequently and often.

Thanks for the post on the DPMS rifle. That is almost exactly what I am looking for. A few questions, if you don't mind:

    1) what upgrades did you make when you bought it from DPMS?

    2) I have a Nikon BDC adjustable scope (black) that I use on my deer rifle right now. Would that work with this gun?

    3) With the scope made for longer ranges, how do you effectively use the DPMS for short-range defensive scenarios?

M1A SOCOMII. Ready to rock right out da box.

Can shoot it all day. Great for hunting, fun for marksmanship, and will drop hogs no prob. Strait forward, and low maintenance.

Saving up for optics. Iron sights pretty good out to 300yrds.

    .

Sounds like you need to harden up.

It comes with practice and shooting lots and lots of rounds. There is no other way.

My AP4 I added a barska red dot five more magazines and a single point sling

Hard to say as the BDC is designed for a long barrel rifle it will probably shoot low at longer ranges

If you can reduce the zoom to 3X or less with a 40mm objective it should be OK for fast targets at short range.

    Cheers

If I was a 100% I could shoot all day but after dislocating c-7 t-1 vertebrate It had a lasting effect on my body. The AR10 platform being gas operated is a great platform the problem is I get nerve tremors which makes it hard to hold the rifle as steady as I'd like and I start getting 6" groups at 100 yards that's when it's time to put the rifle away

The quad-rail free float tube is the only factory upgrade. I added the Harris bipod and the vertical foregrip. And a couple of extra mags.

    2) I have a Nikon BDC adjustable scope (black) that I use on my deer rifle right now. Would that work with this gun?
It wouldn't hurt to try it. The only issue I had with the 4 x 12 was the necessity of a raised mount to accomodate the large objective.

    3) With the scope made for longer ranges, how do you effectively use the DPMS for short-range defensive scenarios?
As bbqgrill mentioned, a lower-power zoom would work pretty well. My use for this rifle is more for longer-range shooting, since I have a couple of .223 ARs (among other things) set up for short-range defense, one with an AimPoint red dot. I have thought about getting a Trijicon ACOG for the .308.

I would strongly discourage a .308 rifle for home defense...
