I would think the LED conversion would hold up to recoil better than a regular bulb. Bulbs are cheap, better test it before you rely on it.
I love innovation. Won't take the time but someday I need to show folks what I did to put a surefire on an AR...anyway, I would recommend you do 2 things:
1st as the other guy said, put the clicky tail cap on. Bad mojo to have to screw the head to turn it on in a SD situation
2 shoot a few rounds of whatever you'll loads you'll use for SD and see if you still have a functional flashlight.
I love mini-mags and had dozens of them until I discovered surefire, however, I've dropped more than my share and despite the fact that they're pretty tough, those bulbs are the weak link. I'd consider the other guys suggestion to get a good led light and mount it.
Nice to see innovation is alive and well in today's world of off the shelf purchase mentality.
I did that on mine with the Tac-Star clamps. The only problem was the light wouldn't hold focus and the bulb would shake loose. I fixed the focus problem with butyl tape (windshield sealant) but any soft adhesive like shoo-goo or a set screw would work and the bulb problem with a small o-ring on the bulb (from an r/c car shock absorber just a 1/8 o-ring) I thing the led kit would be a better fix since the filament won't survive too long under that much recoil.
Stopped at Walmart today - still can't figure out what 98LSWON (OP) bought "...scope mount for a .22 at Walmart (fits on the magazine tube perfectly)."
I found Weaver mounts in cardboard packages for 10/22s and Win700, etc but they all had a 1" scope ring (great fit for the mag tube) but the other item in the package was a 'oval' hard plastic fitting which could not hold a light (being oval in shape).
98LSWON, did you need to buy 2ea 1" rings and screw them together - 1 on the mag tube and the other around the light and then screwed onto the other ring? The original picture lacks enough detail of the rings to figure this out.
Might I suggest a product called Nite-Eyz. It's an LED conversion for the mini-mag, and also moves the switch to the rear. About $8 on e-bay but also in stores.
My mini-mag had the bulb die at the worst times, now I'm sold on LED lights.
I'm away from my house for the next few weeks or I'd take a better picture for you. It's a 1" ring with an extension that keeps the scope about 1/2" above the rifle. I tried searching wallyworld.com and couldn't find it. The packaging called it a "view thru" scope. Hope that helps.
Found a link, this is what they look like.
That'll work, although I prefer my light to be held separately. I can change guns and still use the same light...100 lumens!

That looks good, and for the price great. I have a Mossberg 500. I think I'll run to walmart tomorrow.
I'll be doing the same to my 590 , thanks for sharing

Very cool. Glad I found this thread. I just got a 20" Maverick 12 ga. last week, and this should work great.
Quick Google of 22 RimFire See-Thru Detachable Ringmount yields a lot of info, but looks like WalMart first.
