    Remington Model 12-A

    My father in-law gave me this rifle as a gift for my birthday. It was his grandfather's then his father's and now passed down to me. Its serial # is 639xxx. Year Discontinued: 1936 Total Production: Approximately 832,000. There is some surface rust on it. I haven't had a chance to do a detail strip but have cleaned it down and oiled it. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? I'm thinking of bringing it to a local gunsmith to see about possible blueing. I thought it was a pretty aweomse birthday gift and should create some good times and memories with my family.
