I recently swapped the EOTech on my XCR for an Aimpoint Micro on a Larue mount. Among other things, this changed the cowitness from half height to lower 1/3. Since then, I've just been running by current flip-up front BUIS up all the time. It doesn't obstruct the view much and I figure having it up will make it easier to go to irons if I need to. Since it's up all the time, I've been thinking about switching over to a fixed front BUIS. I figure it would probably be more rugged and resistant to damage than the flip up model.
Right now I'm looking at the Yankee Hill Forearm Mounted Front Fixed Sight and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. Are there any other fixed BUIS front sights people would recommend?
If it were me I would get the LMT front sight one of the KAC front sights. Right now I have my Troy front sight always up - I don't want to deal with the hassle of buying a new one, having an old useless one, what do I do with it? Sell it? Keep it? So it just stays up.
