Got myself a Saiga 7.62x39mm, thank you Obama!
I just picked up a new Saiga, traided in the 870 tac and added a little cash, after seeing the prices go up so much (about 8+ months ago those WASRs etc were going for $400+ and now they are $600 minimum around here!) the guy over the counter advised me not to get the WASR though it looks like an authentic AK47, so I went with the Saiga and it was $100 cheaper and looked better made.
I have to thank Obama for galvanizing me into getting an "assault rifle"... now time to look for some AMMO... they shop (Wild West Traders) only had wolf ammo (steel cased), is this bad for my saiga, they said that the eastern block guns were made to fire those steel cased ammo, but I don't like the idea.
thanks all.

I had a Saiga a few years ago and sold it :(. Great rifle only paid like $200 for it :). I remember getting mad when 7.62x39 Wolf went from $1.99 to 2.50 for a box of 20. Now those prices are a discount memory.

I aint got a digital cam, just cell phone one... hehe, it looks like any other Saiga, and they had one chambered for the .308Win but that one cost $150 more or so.

You can get them converted to accept standard AK mags, and other stuff Really pays for itself within a few mags.
Just if you go that route make sure it has the required number of US made parts.
Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

The others have pretty well said it.
The Saiga is built in the original russian factory that builds the AK 47. It is designed to eat any and all of the Combloc ammo. They are a great rifle as is or can be converted. The plus is that you are starting with all new parts not demilled.

Don't worry at all. Shoot all the steel cased ammo you want out of it.
