Read through this. It will give you some info into what exactly the different ammuntions are, what they do, what the military is using, etc.
Thanks a lot for that link. I just finished reading through all that information last night, and my brain is full. A lot of good stuff there...

    I'd rather carry quarters.
But if they don't give change do you want quarters or nickels if you are buying stuff that only costs 5-20 cents?

I've spent the last few years in Iraq as both military and civilian.I have seen 62gr. 5.56 bounce off of windshields ,so if your shooting at hard targets it may not perform as you thought...it does ok on soft targets though.

Don't ignore the aspect of mindset.

A fair share of the enemies the US military has engaged recently appear to have accepted the idea that they will die in battle. Survival or escape, then, become irrelevant, and they will focus upon completing what they set out to do.

Most CRIMINALS, on the other hand, are VERY much focused upon survival and escape.

You're not likely to find a firearm which will, reliably, PHYSICALLY incapacitate an assailant 100% of the time......and be portable.

As long as you understand this, the AR system will serve you well.
