    My last lower?

So I have one AR lower left to build on. I have CAR and an H-Bar Match in .223. I do not own a pistol caliber carbine. My only .30 bore rifle is a bolt action. Do I build an M-forgery in .223, or a PCC in say 9mm or go heavier and go 6.5 or 6.8?

If you have the CAR and the HBAR, go for the 9mm. Uzi mags are abundant and cheap for conversion to the AR platform, and if you do it as an SBR, the muzzle blast is tolerable, unlike the SBR .223s.

    Go with the 6.8.

    Cool

If you're speaking of the 6.5 Grendel, it can't be a SBR. To do it justice, the 6.5 will require a longer barrel (16" min., 20" or longer better). Ballistically, the 6.5 will match (more or less) the 6.8 up to 300 yards. At 300 yds and forther out though, the 6.5 will start leaving the 6.8 in the dust.

Or, if you really wanna get crazy, you can consider a 6mmAR Turbo upper or .204 upper.

You could get a .300Whisper/Fireball upper and shoot .30 cal bullets either hard or soft.

Soft for suppressed and full speed for anything else. Nice and versatile.

Buy 3 more lowers and you can do all 4....

That said I would do the 6.5 given what you have already.

I guess I don't know enough about the 6.5 / 6.8 series. I would be mostly concerned with availablity of ammo and magazines.

In any case, please let us know what you do pick and how it turns out.

Decisions decisions! Logically I should acquire a couple lowers as has been suggested and build them all! I don't think the wife would be too keen on that right now.

So, if I go 9mm I have a pistol caliber carbine that I can easily feed from my current supplies. I need about $200 in lower parts, the upper with BCG and magazines.
But for that price I could get a Beretta Storm or a High Point, stock and bells and whistles. The only advantage of the AR would be magazine capacity.

If I go .223 again, I can use magazines I already have. I also hand load both .223 and 9mm. The .223 had more power than the 9mm. and the overall cost would be lower.

If I go 6.5 or 6.8 I ratchet the power up a notch, but I now am back to buying new magazines along with the upper and BCG. I would also be stuck with factory ammo until I could score some dies and components.

Now that I think some more about it, Maybe a non typical caliber like .204 Ruger or even .222! Ammo in either of those calibers is fairly easy to find around here!

That 204 is a very neat round...he 9mm in those just does not do it for me. The 6.5 is a very unique round and would be a powerful tack driver.

THe beauty of the .300 Whisper/Fireball is that it uses .223 magazines.

The full power load is a bit better than the typical 30-30 load so you could have 30 shots of a pretty fair deer killing cartridge.

If you load it subsonic, you can have the heaviest hitter with the quietest shot.
