New HD Gun, Mossy in 410. Looking for some "Add Ons"

Okay, don't give me any heat on this one, guys. This little gun was picked out for the wife, by the wife. She's 5' 3" and goes 115lbs. She liked the fit and feel, so I shopped around & got a great deal on a NIB Mossberg 500 HS410. That's right .410! What the wifey wants, the wifey gets.

I gotta admit this thing is pretty sweet to shoot. Holds a better pattern at 15 yards than I expected and with 3" Remington Long Range #4 shells, it does some serious damage to 3/4" plywood!!!

I'm having trouble finding any add-ons for it, (extra shell holder, extended mag tube, regular stock with pistol grip), if any are even availiable. I'm assuming that regular Model 500 goodies won't fit this 500 model. Anyone got some sweet sites for shotgun accessories, that may carry some trinkets for this model??

    Thanks in advance!!

The only 'add-on' I would see as necessary would be a couple of cases of buck shot...#4 gives 5-6 pellets...it'll work for HD.

A butt stock shell holder for 5 additional shells would help.

No offense, but there's alot more than 5-6 pellets in these shells. More than I wish to sit here and count.

Like I said previously,...can do some serious damage!

Get a slip on rifle shell carrier, It will hold 8 or 9 shells.

People can say what they want, I bet they wont stand there and let you shoot them with that lil ole 410.

If it enables her to protect herself, it sure beats a harsh word

From what I could count I would say about 100 maybe a few more.

Ahhh, some interesting loads there! I may buy a few boxes and test the patterns on this stuff, too. Thanks for the link!

I figured there have to be some new defensive loads coming out for the .410 with the Taurus Judge hitting the market.

Considering the wifey's new to shooting, ( I bought her a Walther P22 just 3 months ago), I would like her to have the extra pellets per pattern in a SHTF situation. I've been drilling into her pretty head that if this happens, she is to hole up in the corner of the bedroom with the the phone and the Mossy trained on the door.

    Badda boom, badda bing! Right?

Add an inexpensive flashlight with pressure switch. Midway has hellfighters for around $35.00 and the pressure switch was around $17.00.

I got the rifle buttstock shell holder for mine. The bead sight is the same as the larger model. I had a night sight on mine, but it eventually expired and I replaced it with a big Aluminum bead. Federal lists a new .410 buck load for the Judge, probably worth a try in the long gun if you can find any.

You're out of luck on the extended magazine, but there's a guy at Silencertalk that has a neat integral suppressor for one

A Center-Mass HIT with a 3" 410 blast beats a LOUD near miss with a 12 gauge!! Get wifey plenty of rounds maybe put some PINK paint on the gun(I couldn't resist!)and let her go to town with it! Good Luck!

If you are ever set upon by a vicious gang of plywood planks, you'll be all set!

On a more serious note, birdshot is for birds. I lacks the penetration to reach the vitals and stop an attacker. Please consider something a bit heavier, load wise. Buckshot, as suggested above, is a much better idea.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.
