    Winchester 94-action/clean & oil question

    Is it okay to spray Break Free or something equivalent to saturate the action for cleaning & oiling? I'm new to lever action and want to be sure that there is nothing that shouldn't get too much oil or any parts that can be harmed by oil. May be a dumb question, but I've heard a lot of do's & don't's, just want to be sure. Thanks.

    HI Bart;

    You won't hurt a thing with the Break Free and your 94 will love you for it. I have a 94 and it's easy to open and clean in such a manner. You might make sure to keep the wood from saturating. Great ol' Browning design.

    I'm a BIG 94 fan. I own a bunch of them & at least one is a constant companion at home on the farm.

    I use Break Free on all of them....good stuff!

    Don't be afraid to take it apart & give it a good cleaning. If you are uncomfortable stripping it, check out some of the web pages available on how to break it down. It's pretty easy.....Just take your time.

    The fore end & stock are really easy to remove & a lot of people don't even do that.

    Don't forget to clean out the magazine tube, you'd be surprised how much gunk gets in there.
