Building an AR10 .308...Want to do this once.
I'm building an AR10 .308 and already own an Armolite AR10 lower reciever. I'm doing this as $$$ permits but I want to build a nice piece. I would like it to "reach out with extreme accuracy" for both sport and tactical (should the need arise). I would like to know from you AR experts if I had $2,500 - 3,000 to spend, which barrel, upper, stock, scope, mags and accessories would best suit me. That way I can start buying a piece at a time. I have a gunsmith who has his own opinions but I would like to hear from our forums experts what you would you do if you had $2,500 - 3,000 to spend. What would YOU build?
Thanks in advance for your opinions and words of wisdom. I'm already thinking a Bi-pod is a must.

Sabre Defense builds some nice stuff...and as far as optics I think for a CQB, it would be the Trijicon ACOG, for Telescopic...I would go Leupold or Night Force.

You can buy the whole top half complete with bolt here..

for as much or less than it would cost you to build the complete gun from parts.
Since you already have the Armalite lower, keeping all things Armalite would increase the value of the gun.

Good info guys, thanks. I know you can buy many of the needed parts and keeping it AR is a value added detail. But value after the build is secondary to accuracy and having the best you can get for the $$$. The scope can be a major expense depending on what you are looking for of course. Spending up to $1,000 for a custom leupold is of value if you don't over buy for your purpose. Some items are just out of stock these days so I have to get what is available as I can afford. I figure I can buy all the needed items by Christmas and have a beautiful weapon finished by next spring.
