I could probably do without the fake suppressor in exchange for a standard AR flash hider. That is one .22 I wouldn't mind owning at all!

I have the CMMG conversion kit that I use in a 1:9 bushmaster barrel. It works fine. I would have a hard time buying a dedicated 22lr AR for $500. A dedicated upper, maybe, if the twist rate became important to me. That said, the 1:9 shoots 22LR to almost the same POI as the .223 and accuracy is acceptable for my uses. It seems silly to spend that much money and end up with a fake AR15. You might as well buy high end "air soft" at that rate.

If you already have the AR, a conversion kit is still cheaper.

Out of curiosity, I have a question for you all? Most AR15's have a 1:7, or 1:9 twist barrel with the new S&W mentioned here has a 1:15 twist. Does the higher number (15) mean the round will spin faster leaving the barrel? Something I have been curious on.

The higher the number the slower the spin. The number indicates one full bullet rotation per given number of inches.

Most AR15's have a 1-9 twist..
M & P's seem to be holding up just fine.. There is only two makers of the lower's on them, and they stamp who ever's logo in the mold,.. So your getting the same lower no matter who's gun your buying.. The cost comes in when you put things on it and what upper it has,. Get what you want and enjoy it,. I recommend a chrome lined barrel and chamber,.. From there get the accessory's that you feel are what you want..
PS... I have a friend that has the 22 conversion.. He likes it, but you have to make sure the lead is a coated round.. If not it will mess up the barrel,. Cheaper to shoot for sure, but it isn't the same as firing a 223 or 5.56

I'm interested, but I'd also like to see a more traditional barrel/flash-hider setup than the fake suppressor. Still, I can look past that and see this as a useful training aid... provided it has a last-round bolt hold open.

I think I would rather get a ruger 10/22 or a marlin 22 auto. With the 10/22 you can get longer clips.

That's one thing that kinda gets to me. The use of a proprietary clip from what I see.. I believe (Memory serves me) that these are 25 rd. clips. At least I can use the Black Dog, or Spikes Tactical with the Brownell's set-up I currently have.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they use magazines, not clips...
I can see this as being a useful training gun for people who want some basic training (or maybe some marksmanship brushing up) for the AR platform - which is why people will buy this, an upper, or a conversion kit over a cheaper 10/22 (that or they just want a .22LR AR)... From what I've heard this one is built better than the Colt .22 that just came out (it's not actually made by Colt). I suppose if I had the money and was really hurting because of ammo costs I might consider one of these.
