I'd like to add that I believe that the concept of the IER scope with lower magnification was to allow getting quick hits on target while keeping both eyes open. That sounds like a problem that can be solved with modern technology with a red-dot reflex type sight.

Barska makes a few models at $39.99.
If you find anything other than those 2 scopes I mentioned (with the proper eye relief), I would like to hear about them.
I chose the Leupold Scout Scope.

On my Marlin 1894P .44mag, I have a scout mount and the Leupold FX-II 2.5 "scout" scope as well. Nice combo.

Yup. Just what I did, before settling on the Leupold FX 2.5. If they offered it with 2.5-5x32mm, it would be absolutely perfect. The Leupold has an eye-relief of 9.3". The Nikon allows the scope to be a bit closer, still. Most start at 10-11" eye relief or more, with some being supposedly 'optimal' at 20", which is too darned far (for me) given my LOP and rifle selection.
... then look at regular rifle scopes whose Eye Relief is too short. Then look at pistol scopes, whose Eye Relief is too long. Then look at red dot type reflex sights (who do not offer magnification).

thanks for the replies. The only other feasible one for me, other than the leupold IER scope, is the nikon scope. I may take a look at that one. I like nikon scopes and think they are good value for the money. In fact, I like nikon optics. I have nikon rifle scopes, nikon binoculars and a nikon spotting scope.
